Reminder of Key Data Reporting Changes
As a result of the approved ESEA waiver, on January 30th the New York State Education Department ("the Department") issued a memo to the field containing information about the release of a number of reports based on the 2011-12 school year results. This memo also provided a reminder of several key changes that will be reflected in these data reports. The memo can be found at: http://www.p12.nysed.gov/accountability/documents/FieldMemoReminderofKeyChanges-Revised.pdf.
Requests for the registration of a new school, change in grade configuration, change of name/location, or school closure must be submitted no later than March 1st for the 2013-14 school year. Growth Reporting Rosters
The 2011-12 student-level data used to calculate educator growth scores will only be available within the Growth Reporting System for downloading until March 22, 2013. In order to have access to your data after this time, you must download the file before then. Log-in to access files at: https://ny.growth.airast.org/. 2013 NYSESLAT Guide and Test Samplers
The Guide and Test Samplers for the 2013 NYSESLAT have been posted to the NYSESLAT website. The document can be found at: http://www.p12.nysed.gov/assessment/nyseslat/. Note: Changes to the scoring rules for the 2013 Speaking and Writing Subtests are explained on page 4 of the Guide.
New Bilingual Common Core Initiative Resources on Engageny.org
NYSED launched the Bilingual Common Core Initiative to develop new English as a Second Language and Native Language Arts Standards aligned to the Common Core. Two documents that provide additional guidance and information to Focus Districts regarding implementation of the Diagnostic Tool for School and District Effectiveness (DTSDE) are now available at the links below. Each year, NYSED notifies an LEA when it is scheduled for an ESEA monitoring review to assess a district's/school's implementation of federal requirements. In preparation, those LEAs that receive notification will also be provided the monitoring protocols that are used to collect information during these reviews. 2012-13 SIG 1003(a) Grant
School Improvement Grant (SIG) 1003(a) funds are allocated to LEAs for Title I Priority and Focus Schools to meet their progress goals. Information regarding allocation of SIG 1003(a) Funds to Priority/Focus schools and/or districts can be found at: http://www.p12.nysed.gov/funding/2012-13-1 003a/home.html.
