The New York Stated Education Department is pleased to announce online registration for two upcoming events, the Diagnostic Tool for School and District Effectiveness (DTSDE) Instute and Professional Learning Community (PLC) Training, both scheduled for February 27-28. Sessions will run concurrently from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. There will also be an optional evening session for both groups to discuss plans for the future of the DTSDE. The deadline for registration and payment for meals is Monday, February 17, 2014. All Focus District Superintendents will receive a separate notification of this training.
Who Should Attend?
The DTSDE training will focus on highly effective and effective practices as presented in the revised DTSDE rubric. The training is targeted to persons identified by the Superintendent who will participate in DTSDE reviews at the school and/or district level. This includes the following:
- principals of priority or focus schools,
- district representatives who may be leading district reviews,
- district-selected Outside Educational Experts (OEE),
- designated staff of the Regional Bilingual Education Resource Network (RBE-RN)
- designated Special Education School Improvement Specialists (SESIS).
Professional Learning Community (PLC) Training
Participants designated for PLC training have already been identified by Focus District Superintendents and have had their applications approved to join the PLC. The February session will focus on Systems Thinking. If you have not received the required reading materials, please send an email to our electronic mailbox at DTSDEtraining@mail.nysed.gov.
Lodging & Parking
Lodging is available through Monday, February 17th in the NYSED Room Block at the state per diem rate of $111.00 at the following hotels:
- The Desmond Hotel (205 sleeping rooms) located at 660 Albany Shaker Road, Albany, NY 12211. The contact numbers for reservations is (518) 869-8100 or (800) 448-3500. Complimentary shuttle service is available.
- The 74 State Street Hotel (20 sleeping rooms) located at 74 State Street in downtown Albany, within walking distance of the Convention Center. The contact number for reservations at this hotel is (518) 434-7410.
For those who choose to drive, paid parking is available at the Convention Center, which is accessible at the Empire State Plaza from Route 787 South.
Registration Fee and Meals
There will be a registration fee announced shortly, which will include the cost of breakfast and lunch for the two days. Dinner will not be provided. The amount of the Registration Fee will be determined through a formal bid process and posted on the OA website. Please check the site regularly to obtain this information. Focus District Superintendents will also be notified.
All payment must be made by check. School, district, and personal checks are acceptable forms of payment. Participants paying by personal check are responsible for seeking reimbursement from their district. Payment is non-refundable after it has been received in our office, even if participant is unable to attend.
